Sizzling Summer Workshop

We are so very excited to be spending this summer in Tirana, Albania,

I’m Karen Ricks, Head Chef here at Our Kitchen Classroom.

I love good food and I love to cook!

Even more than that, I am a teacher at heart. I LOVE the excitement and empowerment I see in my students’ faces when they discover that they can make, create, and do for themselves!!!

This isn’t just true of the preschool- and elementary school-aged children that I’ve taught in Montessori and other learning environments all over the world for the last 22 years. This is also true of adults, too!

After spending so many years in the classroom, I realized that my greatest joy comes in using the Montessori principles with which I was trained to teach parents how to cook with their children, and to teach people of all ages how and why to cook for themselves.

I wrote ‘The Ultimate Guide to Cooking with Children’ in order to share some of the stories and recipes that we created with the students and families at our international Montessori school in Japan during the 10 years that we lived and worked there. Now, I want to walk you through this process that we spent countless hours honing and perfecting.
